The Decatur Daily has published an article accusing three Morgan
County Courthouse employees of engaging in "political argument and
inuendo" during work hours on the al.com discussion forum. The
"evidence" is in the form of IP addresses--showing county computers
"hitting" al.com. There is no data on what the person did once
there--whether posting on a forum or just glancing at the "news flash"
AP wire. The "hit" data gives no indication of the time spent there,
either--whether a few seconds or the "hours" alleged. In other words,
there is no actual evidence anyone at the Courthouse has done
anything wrong. But Sheryl Marsh and the Decatur Daily attack and
accuse, anyway, with their own "political argument and inuendo."
Political argument and inuendo are what the Decatur Daily's all about.
I read the al.com Decatur forum myself, and I have a few
observations. If it's true the "accused" work at the Courthouse (I note
two of them have already denied that "fact"), then it would be
reassuring to know that some county employees are so articulate and
insightful about local politics and the Decatur Daily. I suspect they
are people who are doing their jobs much better than their accusers.
And finally, I have no sympathy for people like Stacy George and
Sheryl Marsh, who attack others with lies and half-truths. They
deserve the same in return. But it's even sweeter when they're angry
about people telling the TRUTH about them on an Internet forum.
For the conspiracy theorists, consider the fact there is an abundance
of anti-spyware on the market. Anyone can hide or alter their IP
address. A fake email address is easy. Everything required to register
with al.com can be faked. And al.com's data base is not impenetrable
to hackers, who can change any data they wish. So maybe I'm
Locknload, JestinCase, and Chainsaw911, Amanda Scott, and both
her employees.
Since Amanda Scott seems to be the big news item in Decatur, I want
to share the only thing I know about her. When Karen was very
pregnant with Catherine, she went to the Courthouse for some
business. It was crowded, and she had to wait. Amanda Scott
noticed her, and came out. She got Karen a seat. She was friendly
and pleasant as could be. I heard all about it that evening. Karen
really liked Amanda Scott.
