| I dispute the claim that I am a biased observer of the events I have described on this website. To the contrary, I believe I have a valid and unique perspective on the events beginning March 12, 1999. To begin with, it was my wife that was killed this way. I discovered the body. I made the 911 call. I was back inside the crime scene 7 times over the next 6 weeks. I saw the DPD working the investigation close-up, first-hand. I waited a year and a half for forensics tests to be done--knowing full well it might mean the difference between Karen's killer being convicted and walking free. I waited another year and a half after that for the DA to do anything at all. I was first given access to any real information on Karen's murder three years after the murder, and I had to go to Montgomery to get it. I learned many, many details about how Karen died, and about the evidence against dwm, in court. Prosecutor William Dill's opening statement was an extremely emotional experience for me. Because, although I knew exactly what the DNA result in the fall of 2001 meant, it wasn't until the opening statement I grasped the enormity of the other evidence against dwm. I was at the prosecutor's table for three weeks, and saw every claim Mr. Dill made in the opening statement verified by evidentiary witnesses, expert witnesses, and physical evidence. I was even in chambers for the private parts of the trial. I have been in a unique position to observe the State of Alabama v Daniel Wade Moore, and the behavior of the people involved. I have formed opinions, based on these observations. After four years of silence--maintaining the integrity of the investigation, the prosecution, and the trial--I have shared some of my facts and opinions here. If they are offensive to you, consider how offended I am. |
