After twelve weeks of silence, Elizabeth Gentle and Channel 48 have finally found something they, too, consider newsworthy in SOA v DWM--allegations of Karen's past sexual behavior. I can't help but notice they barely covered the CCA's ruling questioning Thompson, and apparently didn't even cover Thompson's response. The website wasn't newsworthy, nor any of its content. Their previous story was May 8, celebrating dwm's return to Morgan County Jail. Before that was February 20th's coverage of Diane Murphy. Before that, in January, were two reports on the fan club's appearance before the City Council. The defense lawyers lie. The judge allows it--endorses it. The press covers it as if it is true. Then the defense lawyers lie again, and the press acts as though their past stories are verified by it. From my standpoint, this is vilification, not verification. None of these alleged journalists have actually seen the FBI report they are putting quotation marks around; they couldn't, because it's not a matter of public record. And none of these alleged journalists have a clue as to whether these allegations are true, or whether it is pertinent to SOA v DWM. Sometimes I think HATE is the only thing they consider newsworthy. And they're experts on that.
They've called it: The Tipton Murder The Tipton Slaying The Tipton Trial The Tipton Case and the Tipton Saga. They have a Tipton forum. It's all in the hands of the Tipton Judge. I found another one today, in 48's archives. When dwm was brought in for capital murder, their lead story was the "Tipton Arrest."
If Karen were alive, and reading this about someone else, she'd think it was tacky, stupid, and hateful. If Karen were alive to defend herself, I think even she would find it impossible to explain how so many people have said so many stupid things about her in the past four years. But Karen isn't alive to defend herself. She is defenseless, just like she was defenseless against a 6'4" crack addict with a knife. Some people attack the defenseless, without conscience. dwm is alive and could answer a lot of questions. Like how his pubic hair got covered with Karen's blood, and left in the heart of the crime scene. Honestly, the thing that has made me angriest of all the reports was FBI talking about Karen's "comfort" with the killer. I understand--it's a technical use of the word, and it's all taken out of context. But still, it made me think maybe they should have looked a little closer at the autopsy photos. Read the autopsy report page, and tell me if that sounds "comfortable" to you.
Incidentally, the Mobile defense lawyer complained I was "VILLIFYING"* the defense lawyers, the judge, and Barrett Shelton, Jr. He's removed the link, and the comment, from his website.
