| For those unitiated to the alleged criminal justice system, here's how it works: A criminal is arrested for a set of crimes. Half the charges are plea bargained away, for no good reason (except power, money, and convenience for lawyers, that is). The remaining charges are halved again during the course of a trial, and if found guilty, the criminal is sentenced. Then the criminal serves half the sentence; that is, if they are sentenced to prison at all. It is commonplace in this system for cold-blooded killers to get a slap on the wrist. Very common. And the cold-blooded killers know it. It is commonplace in this system for murder to be plea-bargained down to a manslaughter charge, and for the killer to receive a few years' punishment, or none at all. Killers are rewarded at every turn. And if they DO go to prison for killing someone, they are more dangerous getting out than when they went in. Victims, on the other hand, are re-victimized--again and again--by the very system sworn to work for them... and the lawyers and the politicians want YOU to believe it's normal. Well, I can tell you: it may be common, but it AIN'T NORMAL!!! |
