| The local press--all five news outlets--gave prime coverage to the DWM fan club doing a five-minute sound-byte before the City Council. The bizarre event was promoted unlawfully, and was conducted unlawfully at several levels. Since the City Council has no role in SOA v DWM, it wasn't even done RATIONALLY... except for the fact that it was a photo op for the local press. The Daily gave it a front page cover photo, with the Huntsville Times' Chris Bell front and center. It was the press corp's best evidence of public outrage that DWM was in prison and I, David Tipton, was not. It seems I'm more marketable as a suspected killer than I am as a homicide survivor. DWM sitting in Morgan County Jail under a death sentence isn't newsworthy. The web page isn't newsworthy. The SOA v DWM isn't newsworthy. I think it's the NEWS that isn't WORTHY... The press has no interest in the truth. They think everything is normal. |

| I'm sick of the strange perception that any contact whatsoever between victims and police officers is suspect-- That if DPD shows compassion towards me and my children, then they should be investigated... If a police officer that's never met me sends an email about this website, he should be fired... If I show appreciation for great sacrifice done on Karen's behalf, then it's "evidence" of wrongdoing... So they want a scandal? How about this: I, David Tipton, had friends within several police departments long before the murder, and I'm proud to say I still do. Who is in a better position to judge the performance of law enforcement than the victim of the crime??? Remember, the better they do their job, the more the bad guys hate them. And I, for one, can tell the difference between the good guys, the bad guys, and the nuts. |
