| This website was begun a month ago. This weekend, it passed 5,000 front page hits, and 20,000 hits overall. There have been over two gigabytes of data transferred off this site in the past two weeks--pretty impressive when you realize there's only about 8 megabytes here. |
| I've added a page of links to just a few of the many fine victims support and information websites on-line. I hope it promotes an understanding of how far Decatur, Alabama has to go to catch up with the rest of the country--and the world--in the area of victims' rights. |
| If you think none of this has anything to do with YOU, then consider this: at some point in your life, the odds are better than 50:50 that your life will be touched directly by a violent crime. |

| If you don't like those odds, then: Learn the root causes of aggression and violence(perhaps starting with TV, the press, and the entire entertainment industry) and do something about it, even if it's just in your own home. Fight poverty and drug dependence with tools other than punishment and incarceration of its victims. Learn to defend yourself. Support law enforcement in their war on violent crime. PAY THESE PEOPLE FOR THE DANGEROUS WORK THEY DO AND GIVE THEM THE BEST OF TECHNOLOGY TO DO IT WITH!!! YOUR LIFE MAY DEPEND ON IT!!! Get the politics out of the Department of Forensics funding. (A 2 1/2 year backlog of DNA tests is NOT ACCEPTABLE) VOTE WISELY. (especially your DA, judges, and the Montgomery boys) DEMAND VICTIMS' RIGHTS NOW--in Decatur and in Washington. (you could be next) And if all that fails, maybe you can move to a SAFE place to live--like New York City. (look at the statistics yourself--we're in a war zone) Maybe what Decatur really needs to do is learn how to treat victims like victims and murderers like murderers instead of the other way around. And remember, if you want to know the enemies of victims' rights (YOUR enemies), look to those who profit from the violence. |
