Let's examine how well the Decatur Daily has covered the alarm system to this point.
When DWM half-confessed and half-killed himself, Howard Godbee, the owner of the
alarm company--the man who hired Daniel Moore to work on security systems--gave
his "expert" opinion to the Decatur Daily in a very long article entitled: "No Charges in
Tipton Slaying:  Expert says killer didn't disable home's alarm."  I'd like to refresh your
memories a bit, and compare what the Daily published as "expert" and "fact" with what
Mr. Godbee had to say in court, under oath.
In the Daily, Godbee says DWM was an
"excellent employee" and a "nice guy."
and Godbee let DWM use him as a
reference for his next job.

Godbee claims he did a background
check and "the only thing he had was a
DUI and had lost his license."

Godbee says he "talked to his mother
before hiring him."  (and they apparently
didn't discuss his cocaine habit and
stealing).  Godbee says she was "helping
him get on track."  (while never
admitting he was OFF-track in any way).

Godbee said (and Daily gave bold print
sub-headline) DWM was "NOT A
THIEF."(after he was arrested for felony
theft).

Godbee said "someone unscrewed the
keypads in the bedroom and in the
kitchen and cut the wires
to keep them
from beeping incessantly.
"

"Mrs. Tipton was very knowledgeable
about her alarm system."

Godbee said, "I can assure you this, that
the system was disabled, not by
somebody knowledgeable about alarm
systems, but by her or a family member
due to malfunction."

"They were disabled not by somebody in
panic, but by somebody trying to stop it
from malfunctioning." (and bold print
subheadline (KILER DIDN"T DISABLE
ALARM)

"I don't think whoever was there (the
killer) disabled the alarm system."

"I think the system was disabled by Mrs.
Tipton."

"Their (police) belief was the alarm
system had been tampered with, which it
was not."

"He said the publicity could hurt his
business."

"I wish I could have got out there..."

When DWM was arrested for the
murder, Godbee says Moore was a
"MODEL WORKER"
"I don't think he ever worked on
anything himself without me being there."

"We were in and out in 5 minutes" when
he took DWM into our home.
Under oath, Godbee admits Moore had
major problems as an employee, including
Godbee finding Moore once sleeping in
Godbee's office overnight without
permission.  Godbee knew about DWM
having alcohol and serious drug problems.

Moore was also charged with illegal liquor
and possession of marijuana at the time he
got his DUI.  DWM was not considered
stable or secure enough to drive a motor
vehicle, and Godbee was aware of other
events, past and present, making him
inappropriate for security work.

Godbee admitted DWM had stolen a tool
box full of expensive tools from him when
he left his employment, a tool box DWM
still had in his apartment in Hanceville
(despite selling everything else he had for
cocaine).  The tool box still had the
Godbee's AEA sticker on it

Yes, someone had unscrewed the keypads,
but Godbee had no way of knowing who did
it or why, unless he was there.
Not true.  I was the one who was
knowledgeable about the alarm system.

This was total conjecture on his part.  Karen
disabled the beeping about 2 weeks before
by unplugging the power supply from the
wall AC outlet.  Karen and I did not know
how to remove the keypads, would not have
destroyed parts of our alarm system, and
didn't do so.  I DO know...  I was there that
morning and again that afternoon.

The alarm system was disabled in four ways:
The power supply was unplugged from the
wall AC outlet.  Each of the two keypads
had been carefully removed and wires cut.
The phone line had been disabled to prevent
use of a phone keypad to access the alarm,
and the backup battery was not working.
The alarm had been disabled in a manner
consistent with DWM, with some knowledge
of alarm systems.

Which was his entire reason for his grossly
inappropriate description of the crime scene
in the newspaper, during an ongoing murder
investigation.  It was nothing but CYA.

Yes, you bastard, if you'd done your job,
this would have never happened.

--Despite knowing it was a blatant LIE

Moore went to our bedroom alone during
the repair visit.

Funny--they were there for about ten
minutes after I arrived.
